  New Year's at the Harbor House

  Four friends and myself celebrated my 38th birthday on New Year's Eve, and also rang in 2012 at the Harbor House. The house was very comfortable and had a GREAT view of the Sound! The reasons I marked some of the ratings a little lower have to do with having to pay a cleaning fee, yet we were were required to wash and dry all the towels before we left and strip the beds....only to reveal a blood stained mattress pad that we'd been sleeping on! EWWW!! We were also charged an $85 spa cleaning fee, but found the hot tub with pine needles floating in it and a dirty filter. A cabinet door in the kitchen was taped shut, hanging on one hinge with a note from the housekeeper to the managment dated from a month and a half prior to our stay but it obviously hadn't been fixed. Not necessarily an inconvenience to us, but was rather tacky. Overall though, it was a good stay and a very enjoyable weekend on a beautiful island!

  A Deck With a View

  With this house it's all about the view! The home itself (bigger than it appears) is comfortable, welcoming, well stocked, in a great location on Whidbey for all sorts of fun, but once you see the view and relax on the lovely deck you never want to leave.

  This is a beautiful property - with a magnificent view and amenities as described. We needed to know whether to bring a hair driver, and the person managing the property said she would ensure that we would have one. She even went out to buy a new one for us! The only glitch was that the address for the property is different on the website and in the rental agreement, so there was a bit of confusion finding it the first day. But that does not detract from a great stay ... and even a bald eagle outside the back deck on a tree one morning.

  The home looked like the owners used to live there; not that they just furnished it for renters, so you get a lived-in feel and everything you could want is there. The next door neighbors were very friendly and helpful and the view couldn't be beat. The only thing the home lacks is access to the beach (although the neighbors offered to bring us down with their tram.)

  I got charged for a hot tub fee and we never got to use it, the water was dissgusting and slimey, not fare to charge for some thing that you can't use, that was some thing we were looking forward to, and at a cost of 800.00 sad very sad.

  The folks at Tara Properties couldnt have been more helpful!!! Our stay was just as wonderful.. the view the location.. everything about it..
  only two things could have made it A+ and that is that the bed frame broke on our friends bed.. which was promptly replaced which was amazing.. and on our last morning there the hot tub maintanance gal showed up to do her thing.. while we were having breakfast.. was no big deal to us.. but our friends found it very offensive..perhaps she could have waited the extra 2 hrs to do her maintanance?? but then again i understand she has a schedule to follow also.. who knows...
  but all in all ..I give them an A+

  April 2008 Harbor House Stay

  Overall very nice...although too expensive. The nightly rate should include the cost of cleaning and the hottub. The kitchen pots and pans could use some renewing and no blender is available. Storing a large tub of supplies in the bedroom closet leaves no room for the guest to hang their clothing. The exterior looks great since it was resided.
